Pauli Lame is best known for her work and fabrication of the the mural “Willows & Reflections” in the Price Tower designed by Frank Loyd-Wright. She worked, lived, and displayed all over the nation. This is a special piece that came out of the estate of Harold C. Him and his wife, Carol, were avid collector’s of the mid century and New Mexico arts. Commissioned Frank Loyd-Wright to built the Price Tower. Frank Loyd-Wright commissioned John Dekoven Hill of Taliesin Associated Architects to design the mural, and they both recruited Pauli Lame to Fabricate the piece. Funny thing is she turned them down the first time they asked. She ended up living in Bartlesville. This is a rare piece that has characteristics of both mid century and New Mexico. This is a signed piece of museum quality art and very rarely offered on the public market. It displays the Traits of the Price Tower mural while having is own distinct characteristics she is known for in her bowls. Please view photos for further beauty in this art. A great authentic signed check from 1952 written to Etta Hockings Grocery Store. Etta Hockings, formerly Parsons ran the grocery store in Dodgeville WI and was a friend of Frank Lloyd Wright, so much so that he wrote about her in his 1943 Frank Lloyd Wright an Autobiography, see the pics for the excerpt. Etta Parsons took over her Father’s successful business and ran it with her husband Hocking and beyond his death. Frank Lloyd Wright spoke kindly of her and also offered an insight into this feisty friend, see the writings in the autobiography for a glimpse. Another of the many mentions of her includes this excerpt from Patrick Sisson’s 2007′On The Road with Frank Lloyd Wright. The 2,200-mile trip Frank Lloyd Wright and his apprentices took to Arizona that winter represented a new chapter in his career. From humble beginnings, including a stop at Etta Hockings grocery and meat market in nearby Dodgeville , the journey hopscotched west along a primitive, mostly unpaved version of Route 66, pausing at a series of low-cost hotels and tourist cabins, eventually ending at a site near what would become the architects famed Arizona home and studio, Taliesin West. The photo above that has Etta circled is in front of the grocery store with the Taliesin Fellows in 1935 prior to departing on the first trip to Arizona and the founding of Taliesin West. The check itself has a rare addition, it has’Taliesin East School of Architecture’ added as the Payer, this is an addition that is not normally seen on his checks. The check itself came originated through the family estate from Carrie Wright Granddaughter of the Frank Lloyd Wright, it is guaranteed 100% authentic. Own this great piece of Frank Lloyd Wright history. Update: Added actual photos of check instead of just scanned ones as per request, thanks for mentioning that!
