An entire museum store pack of 23 copies of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House sketches. The story: Around the year 2000 I was working at a school and we were setting up a library. We needed books to fill the shelves. A lady who worked at the school told us about a high-end bookstore in Manhattan that was going out of business. We went there the next day and literally were allowed to fill our cars with items from the bookstore with no questions asked. I saw this pack of prints on the shelf, not knowing what they were, and just grabbed them and have kept them in storage for all the intervening years. Having to downsize, I recently came across these again in my things and decided to research them. All 23 are in the original plastic wrap. One end was opened when I got it, so I don’t know if it was supposed to contain 24 or not, but the 23 are new and unused. I removed one to photograph it and put it back carefully. The prints are crisp and clear and clean. A few might have tiny corner dents due to storage, but really tiny and normal wear. The plastic wrap is dusty, but the insides are great! Maybe you know more about these than I do and can do something great with them. This item is in the category “Art\Art Prints”. The seller is “saratogamelon” and is located in this country: US. By An Architectural Icon. By Frank Lloyd Wright. First edition of this “key text in the development of modern architecture” (Neil Levine), showcasing Frank Lloyd Wright’s strong aesthetics and opinions – in notably sharp condition. We may now see the dawining of a deeper insight than has for the past thirty years characterized so-called American Architecture. By that length of time American Architecture has been neither American nor Architecture. We have had instead merely a bad form of surface-decoration. This attractive publication was the result of Frank Lloyd Wright’s public lectures at Princeton, the second session of the Kahn Lecture Series. Architecture historian Neil Levine notes that MODERN ARCHITECTURE is “without a doubt the most historically significant outcome of the entire [Kahn] lecture series as well as being a signal event in the history of Wright’s career and its engagement with the modern movement in architecture” (xxii). This copy, with its vibrant Prairie School binding design, shows particularly well. Read more: Neil Levine, “Introduction, ” Modern Architecture: New Edition, lv. Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1931. Full title: Modern Architecture: Being the Kahn Lectures for 1930 10.75” x 8.25”. Original color pictorial boards. Textual endpapers of Wright’s modern concepts concerning organic architecture. Black-and-white pictorial frontispiece with six black-and-white architectural illustrations. Binding with light edgewear, mild bumping to corners and spine ends; a bit of scuffing. Subtle warping to endpaper, frontispiece hinge a bit tender.
