Poster size: 28×20 in/ 72×52 cm. Many people may not be familiar with the term Arts and Crafts. Simply put, it was a revolutionary movement in design that began in 19th century England. It was a movement that brought about major changes in the relationship between design and people’s lives. For example, it is now common knowledge that “good design is not only beautiful but also easy to use, ” and Arts and Crafts was based on this idea. Tracing the origins of the movement, we arrive at the Red House, which William Morris built when he was newly married. In order to create a beautiful home where people could live comfortably, Morris himself worked with his friends to handcraft the wallpaper and window decorations. Morris called it the most beautiful house in the world. The spirit of Arts and Crafts, which began with such humble handiwork, eventually spread throughout Europe and even to Japan and America. This exhibition will show the development of Arts and Crafts, focusing on England, but also including trends in America. This exhibition focuses on British artists who promoted the Arts and Crafts Movement, as well as Morris & Co. It is a diverse exhibition of the Arts and Crafts Movement, the origin of modern design, with approximately 170 pieces of textiles, furniture, silverware, tiles, stained glass, books, etc. Expedited: 1 to 2 weeks Estimated days may vary depending on the country and time. The most cited issue was the lack of any indication of the issuing authority, gold content, and legal tender status on the medallions themselves. Over the ensuing years, various changes were made to the program in attempt to bolster sales. While the series experienced slow sales and were deemed a failure by some, it did set the stage for the immensely popular and successful American Eagle gold and silver bullion coin series. These unique medallions are becoming scarce as many have been melted over time. Medallion Design Obverse: Portrait of architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
