Decorate your favorite room with this hand-painted designer resin sculpture featuring the Flower in the Crannied Wall Statue designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and Richard Bock to be placed in the entrance alcove of the Dana Thomas House in Springfield, Illinois. The astounding sculpture measures 18.25″ tall, 5.25″ long and 5.25 deep approximately. Flower in the Crannied Wall was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and Richard Bock for placement in the entrance alcove of the 1902 Susan Lawrence Dana House in Springfield, Illinois. While Wright knew he wanted a sculpture in this location, he was uncertain about just what he wanted. The final design, executed by Bock in terra cotta, combined ideas from both architect and sculptor and resulted in a naturalistic rendering of a female nude rising from a geometrically abstract column. Named after the Alfred Lord Tennyson poem, which is also shown on the back, the sculpture symbolically represents the human attempt to understand nature and the universe. Polystone which is composed of polyurethane, resin, and mixed with powdered stone additives that give it added weight and a porcelain or “stone-like” feel. Polystone is very durable and delivers a cleaner, more substantial representation of an original sculpture than other common materials. This Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture Nakomis Statue measures 17.25″ tall, 7.75″ long and 3.75 deep approximately. It weighs about 7.25 pounds. Midway Gardens was an entertainment complex on Chicago’s south side, and an extraordinary achievement for Frank Lloyd Wright, who personally designed and supervised all of its elements, including a series of cast concrete sculptures he called the “Sprites”. The Gardens fell victim to financial troubles and was demolished in 1929. This hand cast cement garden sculpture was adapted from the drawings found in the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Archives. Yes, she does look like she is leaning slightly forward, this is the design, with the infant on her back/shoulder. No chips or cracks found.
