After Frank Lloyd Wright (American, 1869 – 1859). Shidoni Foundry in Tesuque, New Mexico. Cast in partnership between the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and. Thomas Nelson Hubbard, 1974. Pair of patinated bronze statues, conceived in 1929-30 in terracotta and cast in bronze in 1974. The present works were cast in 1974 from molds created from original terracotta sculptures. Authorized Limited edition 500. As a side note, to date the full edition has not been produced. Approximately 200 sets have been produced. In December 1973, The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation granted Thomas Nelson Hubbard a license to produce the pair in bronze to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the original designs. Nakoma is a Chippewa word meaning’I do as I promise’. This Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture Nakomis Statue is made of designer designer composite polystone resin, hand painted and polished. Polystone which is composed of polyurethane, resin, and mixed with powdered stone additives that give it added weight and a porcelain or “stone-like” feel. Polystone is very durable and delivers a cleaner, more substantial representation of an original sculpture than other common materials. This Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture Nakomis Statue measures 17.25″ tall, 7.75″ long and 3.75 deep approximately. It weighs about 7.25 pounds. This breathtaking sculpture was originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1923 to be located at the entry pools to the Community of Nakoma Country Club in Madison, Wisconsin. A rare Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation sculpture called “Nakomis” made around 2013 by HF Coors in Arizona. I believe that these have been discontinued by the Foundation as I have not found any for sale, on their site, except for large garden sculptures. It is stamped on the bottom and does have a couple of small nicks/cracks that were done during the firing process and does not hurt the integrity of the piece. These are shown in the pictures.
