Vitra Miniature RED MIDWAY GARDENS Chair. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright 1913/1914. Exact copy of the original large version. This chair has been retired by VITRA for a long time. Chair is in good preowned condition- SEE PHOTOS! Size: 5.79″ x 1.93″ x 2.68 (14.7 x 4.9 x 6.8 cm). Midway Gardens was a sophisticated adult playground built in Chicago’s South Side in 1914. The unusual design was a carefully arranged marriage of modern architectural design and old-world tradition. It was a distinctly American translation of the German concert garden with richly decorated brick-and-concrete enlivened by colors, shapes music and people in movement. The complex included an indoor restaurant, large dance-floor and concert stage; multi-tiered outdoor summer garden and band shell; tavern, and private club. This light, colorful and lively chair was part of this production. The Midway Gardens sadly was demolished just 15 years later.
