A handsome 1909 Arts and Crafts trade catalog and building manual for Radford cement house construction, with detailed directions for building with concrete blocks, waterproofing, forms, floors, walls, steps, farm buildings, chimneys etc, and a variety of home designs and floor plans from which to choose. The Radford Architectural Co. Published over twenty catalogs of designs beginning in 1903 and continuing into the 1920s. According to the Journal of the American Institute of Architects, many of Radford’s cement, plaster, and concrete block house layout options were inspired by the Prairie School designs made popular by Frank Lloyd Wright and his Midwestern contemporaries. Still in the original box with dustjacket. The book appears never to have been opened(I opened it to take a picture and see if there were any writings on the inside cover); The Complete Works of Frank Lloyd Wright; 12.9 X 12.4 X 1.9 inches. A very special memoir written by a young couple who befriended architect Wright during the Great Depression, challenging him to design “a five-thousand-dollar house”. He designed the famous Usonia #1, and the Solar Hemisphere over the years, and the book includes photos and anecdotes about the process. Their friendship lasted 25 years, until Wright’s death. This is a scarce copy of the 1978 first edition, published by Chronicle Books in association with Robert Briggs. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
