The title block on the cloth box is rubbed through in one spot (please see photo), else Fine. Of an edition limited to 500 copies, this is numbered A401. Near Fine / Cardboard Box Fine. The significance of Wright’s architectural theory is dramatically illustrated by the portfolio, underscoring a drift to technology tempered by his organic and humane tendencies. “Wright had an impact on American culture and global architecture of a magnitude that posterity has only begun to grasp” (American National Biography). The gorgeous plates, many publishing works by his underlings, and many published here for the first time, span Wright’s career, from his Prairie period to the utopian designs of Broadacre City. A second portfolio was published in 1980; a third in 1982.
