This Frank Lloyd Wright Saguaro Metal Framed Stained Glass vividly recreates one of Wright’s most popular designs. The design is one of a number of Liberty Magazine cover designs from 1926-27 that the editors thought to be too “radical” and never used. In 1973 there was a fire in the Arizona Biltmore. This graphic was selected from the Frank Lloyd Wright Archive to be rendered in stained glass in the reconstructed foyer. On this glass panel, enamel colors are individually applied to a single sheet of glass which is then kiln fired to permanently fuse the enamels to the glass. The glass is then metal framed and and includes a hanging chain. Does NOT come with stand. This stylized design of a desert landscape is adapted from “Saguaro Forms and Cactus Flowers”; one of a set of magazine covers Frank Lloyd Wright designed for Liberty magazine in 1927, but was not published at the time. Since then this design was re-created by Mr. Wright in 1955 for a rug, and was also adapted by the Taliesin Architects for an art glass window installed in the 1970s remodel of the entrance to the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix, Arizona where it can still be seen today. On this glass panel, enamel colors are individually applied to a single sheet of glass which is then kiln fired to permanently fuse the enamels to the glass. The glass is then wood framed and includes a wooden plaque base. Hanging hardware is also included with the stained glass so that you have dual function to this masterpiece stained glass art. The measurements of this beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright glass art panel plaque is L: 12″ x H: 15″ x Thickness: 0.75″ The wooden base measures L: 12.125″ x W: 2.75″ x H: 0.75″.
