Johnson Wax Research Tower Lighter. A number of these were commissioned in the 1940s by the president of S. Johnson & Son to commemorate the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building in Racine. Great collector’s piece. This one recently came out of a box of things belonging to my great-grandfather. He worked for several decades in research and development at the Kimberley Clark headquarters in Wisconsin, and we think it was a gift from one of his counterparts over at S. See pictures for more details. I don’t know anything about lighters, so I have no idea if this one is still workable or not. Needs a polishing- has a very thin layer of grit built up on some of the surfaces from being in family storage so many years, but it seems like it would come off easily, just from lightly scraping at it with a fingernail.
