Tafel had been an apprentice at Taliesin for nine years, form 1932 to 1941, and thus worked under Wright during the development of some of Wright’s most important contributions, including Fallingwater and the Johnson Wax Headquarters. A rift developed between Tafel and Wright when the former left Taliesin rather abruptly to set out on his own in 1941, but the two remained in contact, as evidenced by this brief, but familiar inscription on this important manifesto.
