Together with Wrights mother, Anna, and Aunt Nell (Ellen), Aunt Jane was one of the major early influences in Wrights life. The photograph took place at the Hillside Home School in Spring Green, Wisconsin and was made by Wright for a brochure promoting the school. Collotype was Wrights chosen method of photographic printing that he did by hand. A fragment for the cover of the. Brochure can be seen in image 4 (NFS). Provenance: Kelmscott Gallery, Chicago, IL; Acquired from a descendant of the Lloyd-Jones family. This photograph was exhibited by the Kelmscott Gallery along with the complete set of collotypes for the brochure, several related cyanotypes and other photographs by Wright. It was re-acquired recently and is the only one we have left. Included in the offering is: 1 a copy of the letter by Wright to Mrs. Felix Morris that he had taken the photographs himself he was sharing with her. Morris and her husband were actors that toured the country with their troupe. They had their children enrolled at Hillside Home School and the aunts cared for their infant child (image 5); #2 a copy of the brochure; #3 3 photocopies of reviews on Kelmscott Gallery exhibit; #4 a copy of the price list attached to the rear backing (image 6 – see image 7 for original list price) & list with no prices (image 9).
