This is a wonderful vintage oak table lamp as designed by Frank Lloyd Wright with a wood and paper shade. I received this lamp as a gift from an elderly neighbor. I had admired it when visiting years ago, and when it came time for her to downsize a few years back, she insisted that I have it. The home that she and her husband built was designed by Robert Warn, a local architect who had apprenticed with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesen. The home design was clearly influenced by Wright’s designs, as shown in the exterior photo included with listing photos. I do not know any more about the lamp’s history beyond this, but it matches a FLW design as shown in the vintage photo I’ve included. I do know that it sure looked super in their living room. It unfortunately does not look as good in my 1870s home, and in the process of sorting through things I have decided it’s time for the lamp to have a more appropriate and appreciative home. The lamp is constructed of oak with a lovely tight and straight grain. The shade is framed with the same oak and covered with a textured paper. It has an older pull chain socket and a long cord with a vintage in-line switch. The wooden lamp base is in excellent condition with a great patina. The shade is structurally sound, but the paper is starting to show it’s age. There are a few age spots and a small tear that has been repaired with some glue that has darkened. This was true when I got the lamp, and I haven’t done anything to it beyond dusting. Lamp measures about 21″ tall and 18″ wide. The shade is 16″ square and the wooden base is 9″ square. Please see photos for more details. Second photo shows lamp with bulb turned on. Thank you for your interest.
