This set of 2 eye-catching stained glass suncatchers were made based on the window panels designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1912. Wright designed a series of window panels for the estate of Chicago industrialist Avery Coonley. They were placed in the kindergarten of Mr. Avery’s estate in Riverside, Illinois, for his daughter and the neighborhood children who were taught by his wife. The Coonley playhouse window design was inspired by parades, and all their iconic images. In the windows of these panels you’ll find balloons, an American flag, confetti, and bright colors. These windows were Frank Lloyd Wright’s first departure from his signature straight line form of design. Wright described this prominent architectural element as’kinder-symphony’. Except for a few relatively plain panes, the majority of the windows currently in the Coonley Playhouse are all replicas. Some of the originals can be seen at the Chicago Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. The original’kinder-symphony’ panels for sale here are on display at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. This beautiful and striking 106 year old abstract design can easily be mixed with any 21st century modern decoration motifs with no problem. You would enhance the beauty of any space with these delightfully abstract and playful colors and lines! The size of the rectangular panel is 19″ long by 4 5/8″ wide, 1/4 thick, weighs 2 lb 3 oz (1 kilogram). The round panel is 6 3/8″ diameter, 1/4″ thick, weighs 8oz (230 gram). The condition of these panels is excellent. There are a few light scuff marks along the upper sides of the metal frame. You can also see some light thinning on a couple of the lines, probably from a previous cleaning. Overall, these two suncatchers are in excellent display condition. There are no cracks, chips, deep scratches or repairs. Please see photos for details. The rectangular panel has a small metal tag that reads, “Inspired by a Design of Frank Lloyd Wright, certified by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation”. Both panels have holes or brackets for hanging. There are no chains attached to these because the previous owner used acrylic stands to display the pieces. I would suggest using clear mono fishing line for hanging them. The metal chain is a strong visual distraction; with the fishing line these playful panels will seem to be suspended in air! Each one of these panels is gorgeous on it’s own merit, but together they really enhance the visual appeal. These panels would brighten any location they were placed in with their neat shapes and colorful theme! They can be placed on stands, hung on the wall or suspended from the ceiling. Whichever way you choose, these fun-filled suncatchers will delight you for years to come! The panels are described as objectively as possible. If an item has a scratch or ding, I will tell you.
