This listing is for a newly mounted and framed print of Frank Lloyd Wright’s visionary mile-high skyscraper, The Illinois. The peice was mounted with a conservation dry mount and framed in conservation reflection control glass. This particular print was made in 1990, in association with the Phoenix Art Museum. The framing is 3/4 inch matte black, and was done in a sleek frame to match the modern lines of Wright’s drawing. The frame was also chosen to be simple, so as not to overwhelm the focus of the piece–the Illinois Tower. The framing was done professionally by a local frame shop in Tacoma, Washington. All framing is new. The piece itself is from 1990. A copy of Frank Lloyd Wright’s book, A Testament (1957), which first described his vision for a mile-high skyscraper, is included as a free bonus with the piece. In the book, the tower is introduced. Interestingly, Wright believed the knowledge and materials necessary to build the skyscraper were available in 1957 when he unveiled his creation. This would make an excellent interior design peice for an architects office, where, along with the book, is an excellent conversation piece which highlights the ideals of architecture and design–something to bring out the lighter side of humanity, beyond the always lingering question of cost.
