Up for sale is an original personal Seasons Greetings card designed and sent by Frank Lloyd Wright. The inside of the card reads Seasons Greetings From Helen and Lloyd Wright The Year Of The Moon And Step To Infinity. (I’m guessing 1969). The front has a little pine foliage affixed to the front of the card. The front and back pf the card depict typical FLW linear design, and a Moon. The card is not addressed to anyone, and has been stored away for decades. It measures roughly 7.75 x 7.50 inches. Please see the images as they depict condition, which is good. Midway Gardens Top Logo Frank LLoyd Wright Designed Rare unusual the. Ade in 1914 as marked on the bottom. A vintage China Platter with Midway Gardens top logo! The logo “MIDWAY GARDENS” with a square around the outside a red triangle inside the “W”. On the back side of the china has an impressed mark from the maker “BAUSCHER CHINA” IT Says in red copy New York-Chicago, Bauscher Weidan Germany 1914. This is a great old piece, the china is without any cracks or chips it does have wear to the edge of the red squares design to the outside from use. I have never seen this large 9 3/4″ Across by 6″ Wide, this bigger size plate is harder to come by I have seen a smaller plate but never this size. The Midway Gardens, 60th & Cottage Grove Ave. Chicago, IL name and ownership was only under the first owners for 2 short seasons from the opening June 27 th. 1914 tell Edelweiss Brewing Co. Took over in 1916. The name then was changed to “EDELWEISS GARDENS” it makes sense the new owners would have destroyed these pieces and not have kept any Midway Gardens logo printed material anymore. By 1916 night life throughout Chicago suffered and the end to Midway Gardens came in 1920 when Prohibition was declared. The building was finally closed and demolished in October of 1929. Midway Gardens was bulldozed into Lake Michigan as a breakwall. As the story goes, a member of the Midway Gardens wrecking crew either rescued the Sprites from the lake or snatched them before they were destroyed. After restoration and recasting work was done on these wandering Sprites, Taliesin Associated Architects donated eight Sprites, each standing 6 feet tall and weighing 450 pounds, to the Arizona Biltmore in October of 1985.
