On the reverse side of the bar of soap are the words Maid o The Mist. This is a rare and perhaps one of a kind example of the soap made by Larkin Company in Buffalo New York. Darwin Martin, president of Larkin Company, was Frank Loyd Wrights most important benefactor. Darwin Martin commissioned Frank Loyd Wright to design and oversee construction of world famous Western New York landmark buildings including the Darwin Martin House complex, the Larkin Soap Company building and other magnificent Wright structures around upstate New York. In short, this is the soap that built the Darwin Martin Business empire, and through Darwin Martins architectural commissions of designs by Mr Wright, left Buffalo as one of todays most important architectural heritage regions in the world. It also celebrates the Maid o The Mist attraction which, for a century, has allowed millions of people to see the spectacular Niagara Falls up close from the beautiful Niagara River.
