Hard to find lighter of the SC Johnson’s Wax Research Tower in Racine, Wisconsin. The lighter was designed by noted Industrial Designer, Brooks Stevens and was a limited edition (estimates of less than 2,000 produced) and was given away as executive and corporate gifts. Very good condition with no chips to the Cherokee red paint. Lighter does not work (probably just needs flint/fluid). Piece stands 5 3/4 tall. The tower, located in Racine, Wisconsin, was built between 1944 and 1950. This lighter belonged to an employee of the tower. The lighter is made of metal with red enamel stripes and a stepped circular base, resembling the tower’s design. The Johnson Wax Research Tower is notable for its unique cantilever construction and its role as a research facility for the SC Johnson company.
