Imperial Hotel, Tokyo constructed from 1912 and completed 1923 survived the magnitude 8.3 Great Kanto Earthquake of September 1, It was just preparation for Opening day. Wright was very confident with strength of the structure but not sure. A telegram from Japanese friend Baron Okura reported Hotel stands undamaged as monument to your genius. In 1968, Imperial Hotel Wright Annex was demolished due to urban developmental pressures. Four glasses are available. SIZE : 11cm, approx 4 1/4. This 1949 autographed Letter is personally signed by Frank Lloyd Wright in blue ink. This letter was sent to Manuel Sandoval in San Francisco Gift Shop and Staff January 4th, 1949. It is typed on Taliesin West Paradise Valley Arizona Frank Lloyd’s business 8 X 10 stationary. Wright designed the Morris Gift shop in the late 1940′s located at 140 Maiden Lane, SF. All the built in furniture was constructed out of black walnut designed by Sandoval. The two friends met in the 1930′S and remained friends until Wright’s passing in 1959′. In addition to the letter included is a’POST CARD’ to Sandoval inviting his family to Wright’s family cabin in Denver CO. The post mark is not clear to determine the date. Frank Lloyd Wright became famous and sought after with his Prairie Style architecture which strived for’an organic’ architecture for homes and commercial buildings. One of these styles was’open floor plan’ which he believed was the antidote to a’closed-in’ architecture. This personal note from Mr. Wright to his friend Manual Sandoval is a rare find and great specimen of his flair signature. ORIGINAL POST MODERNIST HOME THROUGH THE GRASS PHOTOGRAPH. This is just a great original piece. I recently acquired a collection of Architectural photography from a local collector. A wonderful collection of 5 different original Architectural photographs in the style of the master, Ezra Stoller as well as the Bauhaus works of the early 20th Century. This photograph is a wonderful view of a post modernist home much in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright. It is also very much in the style of how Ezra Stoller did his photographs of homes. This image looks like some of the work he did on Long Island in New York. Photograph measures 16 x 19 1/2 inches. Photograph is mounted on cardboard with a protective paper layer between the photo and the backing. No signature or stamp that I can find anyway so I dont know who the artist is. Photograph is scotch taped verso to the matte. Original silver frame and matte and complimentary are ready to hang. Frame measures 24 1/2 x 27 1/2 inches.
