Frank Lloyd Wright – Elevations Drawing – Sheet #4 for Wilson Shelton House (project) with annotations. Frank Lloyd Wright created two designs for the unbuilt Wilson Shelton House in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. This is Sheet #4 – Elevations from the second design Wright created for the family. The drawing is around 4′ x 3′ (wide x tall) and is approved by Wright with his characteristic FLLW / date approved initials -’57 in this case The month looks like Aug. I then let the Frank Lloyd Wright Archives photograph it because they did not have an image of this drawing and then had it framed to archival/conservation standards and left it in the archival mylar sheets sealed outside the work’s edges at the archives as they do with all their drawings. I will be listing a number of other Wright related items this is the only original architectural rendering. Most of the other items are ephemera, books and magazines. The rendering did spend a week under a magnetic press at the Wright Archives to minimize the wrinkles. Otherwise it may be more worthwhile to pass along to the kids to sell in a few decades (hopefully more). I have really tried to cut the price as much as I can and rethought and cut a little more. I would like to see this go to a good home, hopefully one where the public can view it. I tried to take the most accurate photo I could, but with the size of the drawing, there was some inevitable glare at the corners. The paper does have crinkles and this could be taken care of by a paper conservator. I chose to leave it as is, display it as a historical document and have taken much enjoyment in seeing it every day for the last eighteen+ years. I added a close up of the FLLW signature that I have upped the “clarity” on to make the letters stand out (no other alteration).
