Wonderful Rare Mid Century Modern Mark Keram Art Pottery Bowl. Keram was known for his experimental glazes, and this piece is such an example of his advanced design. Frank Lloyd Wright & Gilbert Rohde often looked to Keram’s pottery to compliment their own work. Hard to capture the glacial icy green color in photos of this wonderful piece. 7 1/4″ across and 1 1/2″ deep. Signed with early signature on underside Mark Keram. Frank Lloyd Wright Rohde assoc. 2 – 24″ x 36″ Sepia Architectural Prints in Good Condition of the William Wesley Peters, Architect and Taliesin Associates, Architect submission in approximately 1964 for the Belmont Park proposed new grandstand. One print is a rendering of the Grandstand, while the second print has a title block and is a cross section of the design. Cross Section 1/10 Scale. New Pavilion and Clubhouse at Belmont Park. For the New York Racing Association, Inc. William Wesley Peters, Architect Taliesin Associates, Architect. Update: Owner will provide notarized description of the origins of the prints. History: William Wesley Peters was Frank Lloyd Wright’s first apprentice who devoted much of his career to preserving Wright’s work and legacy. He was an architect as well and served as structural engineer and project architect on famous buildings such as the Guggenheim and Fallingwater. He personally designed 120 projects including the Pearl Palace in Iran. When Wright died in 1959, Peters took over his “studio” known as Taliesin Associates. He not only married Wright’s adopted daughter but also briefly married Lenin’s daughter. In the early 60′s the New York Racing Association board selected three well known architects to submit a design for a new Belmont Park Grandstand. William Wesley Peters and Taliesin Associates were one of 3 selected. After preliminary design approvals the three where directed to proceed with the designs and to make a model. During his life Frank Lloyd Wright did a design for a generic race track grandstand. The design submitted by Peters and Taliesin Associates were Frank Lloyd Wright’s generic concept expanded. A revolutionary design, but the board eventually authorized Arthur Froelich to proceed with his concept. These 2 Sepia Architectural Prints were part of the original William Wesley Peters/ Taliesin Associates proposal and were saved by an employee of NYRA at the time.
